Witches, The Cage -St-Osyth – Essex

The Cage is in the village of St-Osyth located in the county of Essex, southeast England. Said to be one of the most haunted houses in England. The Cage is a former village mediaeval lockup where drunks and villains would be kept overnight.

But is it best known for holding Ursula Kempe, one of the St-Osyth women accused and found guilty of witchcraft. Ursula was hanged in 1582 together with another woman, Elizabeth Bennett.

In 2005, Vanessa Mitchell moved into what she thought was her dream home, a former medieval jail. It wasn’t long before apparent paranormal phenomena forced her to flee, Vanessa became convinced her home was haunted by some one or something.
